Last week I experimented. Since starting both my jobs it’s been a bit of a challenge to make good eating choices and fit in workouts! I knew that I was living the good life the last eight months of unemployment, only having to worry about the household chores, making dinner for the hubby, and working out as much as I wanted whenever I wanted 🙂 I knew I would eventually have to get up at o’dark thirty if I wanted to get a workout in once I was gainfully employed.
I laid low for several weeks while dutifully doing my PT to rehab my poor knees (story in last post). Now that they’re much better and I can run a bit, I’m very excited and motivated to get back to a regular plan.
Last week my plan was to swim MWF before work, bike MWF during lunch break, and run/do some hip/core exercises over lunch on Tues/Thurs. I went a step further and also planned on MAKING all my meals!! Now anyone who’s been around me in the past knows cooking is, shall we say, not my forte. However, having spent the last 8 months prepping meals for my awesome hubby and I, I had a good idea of what would make good leftovers and what would be portable.
Much to my surprise, it was a great success! Lasagna was good for two lunches (and dinner the next night for hubby!), my leftover applewood smoked bacon pork roast with sides of steamed broccoli and carrots and sweet potatoes was rather delectable, and the tacos weren’t too shabby either. Oh and I also invested in a NutriBullet – it is probably my new favorite appliance. Had at least five smoothies last week. Nothing like getting several servings of veggies and fruit before 0800.
Now something else I didn’t expect happened too…I was not only way more organized in getting my workouts done and eating better, but I was experiencing a strange lack of procrastination in my other chores. The dishes were getting done, my grocery list was very well planned, laundry was getting done, bed was getting made, I was picking up my stuff (most of the time). It seems that when I started organizing and planning ahead on one area, the other areas fell into place!
So on to this week!
Lk 16:10. Who knew?
